Pair your first connector
A connector is the agent that gives VaultPAM a secure path into your private network. You download it from the Connectors page, install it with the enrolment token shown in the app, and then verify that the status turns Online.
Before you begin
- You have an active VaultPAM account.
- You can reach the target network from the machine that will run the connector.
- You know whether you want the Docker package or the native binary.
Steps
- Open the Connectors page in the app and choose Add connector.
- Pick the installer that matches your environment:
- Docker if you want a containerised install.
- Native binary if you want the connector managed as a system service.
- Copy the enrolment token from the app and use it during installation.
- For Docker, run the command the app gives you. For a native install, register the service so it starts automatically after reboot.
- Return to the Connectors list and wait for the status to change from Enrolling to Online.
- Expect the first successful heartbeat within about 30 seconds once networking and storage are correct.
Troubleshooting
- If the connector stays Offline or Degraded, check the network path first.
- If the connector lost its identity after a reinstall, generate a new enrolment token and pair it again.
